Winter skin in a heated London flat
Hard water and central heating are a difficult combination. How a richer butter held up where lotion did not.

What changed when a household in the Midlands swapped a thin lotion for a whipped double butter through the dry months.

Dry season in the Midlands means long sun, dust and air that pulls moisture out of skin by mid-afternoon. A standard lotion was being reapplied three or four times a day and still leaving ankles, elbows and knuckles rough and tight.
One jar of ROOTED, our original whipped double butter of shea, mango and avocado, applied once in the morning to damp skin straight after washing rather than to dry skin later in the day.
Reapplication dropped from several times a day to once, and the rough patches on elbows and heels softened over the first fortnight. The timing mattered as much as the product: butter seals water in, so it needs damp skin to work with.
